Does anyone know a good pasta recipe that can feed a fairly large party? of...about 15-20 people? maybe more?

This is a REALLY REALLY delicious one and very easy to make, although this recipe serves 6..

Fettuccini Carbonara

5 teaspoons olive oil

4 shallots, diced

1 large onion, cut into thin strips

1 pound bacon, cut into strips

1 clove garlic, chopped

1 (16 ounce) package fettuccini pasta

3 egg yolks

1 cup heavy cream

3/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

salt and pepper to taste

Heat olive oil in a large heavy saucepan over medium heat. Saute shallots until softened. Stir in onion and bacon, and cook until bacon is evenly browned. Stir in garlic when bacon is about half done. Remove from heat.

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente. Drain pasta, then return it to the pot.

In a medium bowl, whisk together egg yolks, cream, and shredded Parmesan. Pour the bacon mixture over the pasta, then stir in the cream mixture. Season with salt and pepper.

Serves 6.

*** The REAL, ORIGINAL, ONE AND ONLY Fettuccine all'Alfredo -- as invented and prepared in Rome, Italy!!! ***

For about 3 servings of fettuccine (ribbon egg noodles), you melt 3 tbsp butter in a large skillet, add 8 oz. (1 cup) heavy fresh whipping cream, and salt to taste. Heat it through, letting it bubble a bit but not too much. Add a sprinkling of ground nutmeg and, if you wish, some freshly ground pepper. Voil脿, that's it!

NO herbs, NO garlic or onion, NO vegetables, NO tomatoes. Just butter, cream, parmesan, nutmeg and maybe pepper. Very fast and easy to make, simple and delicately but richly flavored.

When the pasta is done cooking, drain it and add it to the pan with the sauce. Toss until well coated. Serve with a generous sprinkling of grated parmesan cheese (about 陆 a cup in all -- you can mix and melt most of it into the cream first, and then sprinkle a little extra on each serving). Eat immediately, because cream tends to be absorbed and ';disappear';, leaving the pasta drier, if you let it stand for too long.

Here is a page with an article (in Italian, so it's not a tourist version) about the restaurant in Rome where ';Fettuccine all'Alfredo'; were originally invented. About half-way down the page is the recipe. The original Alfredo (to whom Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford gave a gold fork and spoon to toss his pasta with) has died, but the restaurant lives on...

If you're looking for cheap and easy, spaghetti with meat sauce. Just cook a huge pot of spaghetti, brown up about 5-10 lbs of ground beef with some Mrs Dash, garlic and onions and add to favorite jar marinara sauce. I know it sounds so simple, but I did this at my last party and everyone raved. If you want to get a bit complicated, lasagna is delicious and can be easily made with beef/sausage or spinach for vegetarians in different trays. You can prep the day before and bake just before guests arrive. Obviously double or triple the recipe below, depending on your final head count.
Any good lasagna. Use chicken, spinach or artichokes and pine nuts in with the alfredo sauce. Very yummy.

Or do a veggie lasagna alternating with alfredo sauce and marinera sauce egg plants, zucchini, portabella mushrooms, and onions.

Any good spaghetti make your own with canned stewed tomatoes, onions, garlic, tomato sauce, chicken bullion cube, sugar, salt, pepper, celery salt, basil, parsley, dried chives, oregeno, and italian seasoning. Use a yummy sausage and hamburger mix cook upt he meat then simmer in the sauce for a good flavor.
Cook some penne pasta, add a couple jars of alfredo sauce, and add a large can of chicken. Throw in some capers or sun-dried tomatoes to dress it up and serve with a green salad and garlic bread. Be sure to take the jars and cans to the outside garbage and everyone will think you'be been slaving all day. I'm completely serious - it is awesome.
Here's a few good ones I love to make:
