This white sauce is called a bechemel and it is the base sauce for other sauces like cheese sauce, parsley sauce lemon sauce ect ect.

5 Tbsp butter

5 Tbsp. flour

3 cups milk, brought to a boil before using

1 small sprig thyme

1/4 or 1/2 bay leaf

pinch of nutmeg

salt and white pepper

Melt the butter, add flour and cook until it has a light biscuit colour. SLOWLY add the milk in stages. then add the rest of the ingredients and cook on a low heat stirring occasionally for about half hour.
this is a personal recipe you might want to try:

saute garlic, onions and mushroom in butter

add all purpose cream and milk

then add grated cheese

bring to a boil (you may use low fire to prevent it from burning)

then remove from fire and serve on top of hot pasta

sprinkle bacon bits and parsley on top for extra flavor and color

enjoy and happy cooking/eating! :)
